The people stand in groups that mock, a
fool that dwells among
The one who stands beside a girl, who soon
shall have a son,
They offer much bad council to him, ‘leave,
or face the shame,
For one who breaks the creed of man, and
who with man has lain’.
But Josephs heart was heavy yet, for how
could he believe
The woman who still held his love, and one
who would conceive,
A child that never could be his, and one who
men shall spurn
He lies awake with aching heart, that cause
the tears to burn.
They left to dwell in other lands, to where
peace can be found
To cover many weary miles, on cruel and
stony ground,
They stopped beside a wayside lnn, a stable
midst the meek
To lay their heads on brittle straw, and do
their best to sleep.
The cattle lowed a greeting to, the sheep a
gentle bleat
To greet the Saviour, born that night, when
all the worlds asleep,
He lay warm in his mothers arms, the stable
deep within
He’s sent that we redeem our souls, and keep
us all from sin.
And high above that humble place, a star is
shining bright
And beckoned honest men to come, and glory
in the sight,
A child is born to Mary, whose faith in God above
Has bought the Saviour to us all, and filled the
world with love.
