I lie awake, and shed soft tears, in our wide and lonely
bed
Recalling all the dreams that died, the cruel things that
you said,
The glow of loves sweet candle flickered, went out in
the night
We never found the answers to, mistakes we could not
right.
The promises you never kept, went to an early grave
I stopped counting long years ago, how many times
you strayed,
The castles in the air l painted, built on love and trust
With walls that crumbled early, and lie scattered in
The dust.
And too, to find out what went wrong, or where you
are tonight
Or where you pass the early hours, come home with
dawns soft light,
Which wanton’s false sighs stir you now, whose pillow
rest your head
Who does your body pleasure, and in whose unruly
bed.
So l’ll bite my lip and ponder on , the vows you could
not keep,
I feel that life has ended now, l can no longer weep,
So when you come back with the dawn, remember what
I said
You come back to a love that died, and too, a lonely bed.
